The General HD has an aggressive rim shot and balanced response. This durable two-layer head (7.5 mil external and 5 mil internal with a 2 mil ring to control the overtones) is great live, but also ideal for the studio. The small openings around the perimeter of the dry version prevent extra overtones and give a more focused sound.
