The basins from the Classics Custom series from Meinl are very affordable, but of a high-quality, modern construction. The alloy is of the B10 type, with 90% copper and 10% tin. This CC18TRC-B is a Trash Crash, which has been repeatedly polished (up to six times), creating a high-gloss finish. In addition, various cutouts have been made that vary in size.
This variant of the Brilliant Trash Crash (there is also a smaller version) is 18 inches in diameter. Together with the production method and finish, this results in a fierce attack, with a clear “trashy” character. Yet the overall sound remains smooth and there is no extreme intrusiveness. The crash has a narrow sound distribution and offers a loud, beautiful sound inside. Compared to the 16-inch version, this cymbal naturally has a lower root.
